When Erin Schuessler was crowned Miss Green Bay Area's Outstanding Teen, her platform was 'Leader Dogs For The Blind'. 'Leader Dogs For The Blind' is a non-profit organization that provides guide dogs for those who are blind or visually impaired, allowing them to do things we often take for granted. This organization was established in 1939 by three Detroit-Area Lion Club members.Since then, it has grown tremendously. Each year, over 270 clients attend their 26 day residential training program, where they are provided with a guide dog that will help them enhance their mobility, independence, and greater their way of life.
This is a truly amazing, and a life changing organization, that Erin knew she had to get involved with. And she has. Over the past six years, she and her family have done much fundraising for the Leader Dog organization, including "The Grand Tour"-a 350 mile jet ski ride across Lake Michigan. If you would like to know more about this great organization, just visit their website-www.leaderdog.org.
The first annual Dash for Dogs will be held at the parking lot of Miron Construction (we will start and end there). This event will take place on June 15th. Registartion will begin at 8:00am and the walk/run will begin at 9:15am. BRING YOUR DOGS!! Dogs are welcome, but you must have a leash. $15 donation for each participant. All ages welcome!
